Driver Rehabilitation services provide comprehensive evaluations for experienced drivers who are either recovering from a new medical condition or dealing with chronic and progressive health issues.

Driver rehabilitation services offer thorough, developmentally suitable assessments for adolescents and young adults with developmental or acquired disabilities. These specialized services help create a tailored plan to achieve driving and mobility goals which enables them to access their community for educational, social, and vocational purposes. New Drivers are not required to have a permit or license.
Participating in these services can help to determine appropriate timing for beginning traditional driver education, will tailor sessions to individual learning styles, and when necessary, will collaborate with conventional driving schools to ensure a smooth transition. The occupational therapist will develop a plan to equip both the young adult and the parents with necessary resources and recommendations and connect them with community resources to implement the plan. Executive function coaching is available to support mastering pre driving skills.
Mobility Coaching includes strategies and systems to promote acquisition of independent skills for home and the community. This service is provided after assessments are completed to assist in working the mobility plan.
The goal is for the client to be able to show independence in demonstrating accountability and benchmarking of skills, utilization of available resources for building effective pedestrian skills. This lays the skills needed for driving. This is a one-on-one service that can be provided both in person and virtually. An adolescent is eligible for coaching regardless of formal driver's education requirements having been met yet.
